We think of it as a Zen Etch-a-Sketch. With only water and a brush, imagination is used to paint the surface. As the water evaporates, the image fades, generating new perspectives on creative endeavors. The Buddha Board allows you to live for the moment. Perfect for entertaining the child in all of us.
Buddha Board is environmentally friendly and will last for years with proper care. Allow yourself to let go and not be concerned with each outcome - live for the moment and enjoy! As the water slowly evaporates, your art will magically disappear leaving you with a clean slate and a clear mind. |

Shugo Tokumaru is the kind of artist you hear about from that friend of yours, the one who first took you to that out-of-the-way Peruvian restaurant, the one who made you that mix with the great Icelandic reggae band on it. This friend has a knack for sniffing out things that are special and unique. Extraordinary maybe. Extraordinary is a word that describes Shugo well. In fact, if there is any one adjective that can be applied to a young pop genius making miniature symphonies in his bedroom in Tokyo, extraordinary is it. |

Amazon.com There's something so apt about the band name chosen by Chad Petree and his Shiny Toy Guns playmates. Synth-driven, bright, and relentlessly safe, the plastic pop sound on We Are Pilots references the '80s even more explicitly than the Duran Duran-loving Killers. But despite the occasional chirpy electro (most directly referenced in "Le Disko") and the Human League makeup it's intensely modern, closer to emo than New Wave. The band's debut features a two-vocal combination, with Petree's young-man-in-love tenor rubbing up against Carah Faye's artier edge; she gives a song like "Jackie Will Save Me" a bratty boost. But more often, the band's peppy tragedies ("Chemistry of a Car Crash") and pretty heartaches ("Waiting") sound too tailored for alternative radio. The glossy production sheen, flawless execution, and overall glitz, however, make it easy to forget they're essentially just a tarted-up pop pastiche. In the midst of a quick, passionate fling, you could care less how meaningless and disposable it is... you just know it's hot. Your relationship with Shiny Toy Guns may be a similarly brief--if intense--affair, but you'll always have those first three or four listens. --Matthew Cooke Album Description Onward with the 90's revival! We've got The Lemonheads making a new record, bands gazing at their shoes and the newest lump to add on to the blazing "We 3 the '90's" fire?: Shiny Toy Guns. But don't think these kids are all up in their flannel. STG are taking their cues from the best in electroclash and eurodisco to fashion a unique, stylish blast of pop, indie, electro and a touch of svelt-techno. Comprised of Carah Faye (vocals), Chad Petree (vocal, guitar), Jeremy Dawson (bass guitar) and Mikey Martin (drums); the band have already made a massive impact on MySpace and continue to be taking the world by storm with their explosive live show and bombastic dance-party vibe. |

Toy Soldiers is a slick dose of high-concept absurdity, and lots of fun if you don't think about it afterward. Adapted from a novel by William P. Kennedy, it's got the swift momentum that's a specialty of screenwriter David Koepp, whose later credits include Jurassic Park and Spider-Man. Matching Koepp's narrative energy is director and cowriter Daniel Petrie Jr., who wrote Beverly Hills Cop, and whose big-screen career stalled after this crowd-pleasing debut. The hokey plot involves a class of prep-school misfits (led by Sean Astin and Wil Wheaton) who use their rebellious ingenuity to foil Colombian terrorists who've taken over their school. The lead villain (Andrew Divoff) demands the return of his extradited drug-lord father (one of the prep students is the residing judge's son), and the inevitable showdown provides a heady mix of nonsense, graphic violence, and military muscle. It shouldn't work but it does, especially if you've got a tolerance for Die Hard clones that barely pass inspection. --Jeff Shannon |

The video is sadly the first misstep from the Christian-lite VeggieTale folks. The tale, about the true meaning of Christmas, seems like a rip-off of the Grinch and the splendid Charlie Brown Christmas. The VeggieTale stalwarts--Bob the Tomato and Larry the Cucumber--don't even show until the tale is half over (not even the catchy theme is used here). In an echo of their own chocolate bunny show (Rack, Shack, and Benny), another Mr. Nezzer wants to sell over the airwaves his Buzz-Saw Louis doll that delivers this Christmas message: "Christmas Is When You Get Stuff." One Buzz doll that believes that is wrong sets off to find the true meaning of Christmas and finds some friends to spread the word. Pretty flat all around (though the cute penguins are a plus) and, like the worst of Hollywood, gives us an action sequence instead of the goods. Even, heaven forbid, the Silly Songs with Larry segment ("Oh, Santa") is stale. --Doug Thomas |
